Video: Backstage at West End LIVE

First Published 25 June 2014, Last Updated 25 June 2014

Standing in a packed Trafalgar Square watching the West End’s finest perform for free as part of West End LIVE alongside thousands of other theatre fans is an incredible experience. For joy and camaraderie it’s hard to beat.

But backstage is equally enthralling as casts from different shows bump into old colleagues, warm up, practice routines and generally feed off the energy they’re separated from by only a temporary barrier.

It was here, amid the hustling and bustling, that we caught up with Les Misérables star Carrie Hope Fletcher, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels The Musical’s Rufus Hound, In The Heights star Nathan Amzi and Wicked’s Willemijn Verkaik and Savannah Stevenson. They told us about their shows, future plans and, in the case of The Voice UK contestant Amzi, hinted at a longer life for his already-closed Southwark Playhouse production.
