Rock The Ballet

First Published 13 June 2014, Last Updated 6 August 2014

What’s it all about?

If you’re after a storyline, you won’t find one here. Six men doting on a single female is as close as the action on stage at the Peacock Theatre comes to a narrative. Instead, Rock The Ballet is all about the enthusiastic, witty and scream-inducing dance moves, and the eclectic range of hits, from Coldplay to Elvis, that act as their accompaniment.

Who’s in it?

The Bad Boys Of Dance, six male dancers with sensational skills who appear in less and less clothing as the show progresses, and one woman – Adrienne Canterna – who is scantily clad throughout.

While some might berate the show for its cheesiness – figuratively speaking, it really does whiff of a strong stilton – there is no denying the talent of the individuals that have been unleashed on the Peacock Theatre’s stage. You only have to look at them – and there are a lot of people looking, trust me – to fathom their physical strength, which they put to good use with some spectacular turns, gravity-defying leaps and crowd-pleasing backflips.

What should I look out for?

The occasional air guitar that has sneaked its way into Canterna’s choreography.

In a nutshell?

With more bends than the Monaco Grand Prix and a soundtrack spanning more than half a century, Rock The Ballet is a guilty pleasure that will have you dancing in your seat.

What’s being said on Twitter?

@gingerhibiscus Thanks @Sadlers_Wells for an excellent night at #RockTheBallet last night – particularly enjoyed Guetta’s Bang Bang #BendyPeople

@Jessiica0204 #RockTheBallet was so beautiful! The whole show was so different. Loved it!

Will I like it?

Rock The Ballet will undoubtedly divide opinion. A million miles away from highbrow entertainment, it’s a fun night out not to be taken too seriously: the ideal outing for a hen party or girls’ night out that will not only leave you in high spirits but impressed by the calibre, agility and energy of the performers.
