When you’re the global Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, you must have seen it all. Well, everything except your life story being made into a West End musical before your very eyes, perhaps, as Tina Turner discovered when she visited rehearsals for the upcoming Tina – The Tina Turner Musical.

Set to makes its world premiere at the West End’s Aldwych Theatre, with previews from 21 March, the Tina Turner musical promises to take London audiences through the highs and lows from the untold story of a woman whose astronomical rise rewrote all the rules of the music industry.

So when the cast were visited by Turner herself, as these first pictures from the rehearsal room captured, it must’ve been quite the boost – particularly for West End debutante Adrienne Warren, who’ll be portraying the legendary star. Take a look at the first photos below.

One of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, Tina Turner first rose to fame in the 1960s, partnering with her then-husband Ike Turner, achieving great acclaim for their live performances and catalogue of hits. The duo’s releases at the time included the likes of A Fool In Love (1960) and River Deep – Mountain High (1966).

Divorce from Ike followed in 1978, with Tina Turner going on to enjoy an international solo career which saw her win 11 Grammy Awards. Her string of hits included Let’s Stay Together (1983), What’s Love Got To Do With It (1984 – Tina’s biggest hit, winning four Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year), The Best (1988), I Don’t Wanna Fight (1993) and the Bond theme tune GoldenEye (1995).
