We can hardly contain our excitement – The Jamie Lloyd Company announced today that the fantastic Jessica Chastain will be coming to the stage in the UK for the very first time next summer. Frank McGuinness’s adaptation of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House will open from 18 June to 5 September 2020 at the Playhouse Theatre.

While this is her UK stage debut, Jessica Chastain is no stranger to the stage the other side of the pond; her theatre credits include The Heiress (Walter Kerr Theater), Salome (Wadsworth Theater), and The Cherry Orchard and Rodney’s Wife (Williamstown Theatre Festival).

Jessica has had a long and successful film career, and is an incredible dramatic actor. Most recently, you’ll have seen her in the terrifying It Chapter Two and the most recent instalment of the X-Men film series: Dark Phoenix. She’s received countless nominations for Golden Globes, Academy Awards, Screen Actor’s Guild Awards and Critics’ Choice awards – and was nominated by all four institutions for Best Supporting Actress in The Help.

Jessica also launched her own film and TV production company in 2016 called Freckle Films. Upcoming productions include 355, Ava and The Eyes of Tammy Faye in which she will also star.

Jamie Lloyd said today, “At The Jamie Lloyd Company, our aim is to work with the most exceptional actors in the world, offering them new and unexpected challenges. Jessica Chastain is a gifted artist and is, of course, well known and respected for her extraordinary screen performances. However, I’m delighted she is now returning to the stage – where her career began – in this bold reappraisal of Ibsen’s great masterpiece.”

The production is part of Jamie Lloyd’s new season at the Playhouse Theatre, which will begin on 27 November. The season will offer 15,000 free tickets and 15,000 £15 tickets for under 30s, key workers and those receiving job seeker’s allowance and other government benefits, supported by British Airways.

Tickets will go on sale in January next year, so pop the date in your diaries and keep your eyes peeled!
