In rehearsal: Peter And Alice

First Published 18 February 2013, Last Updated 20 August 2013

If there were such a thing as a theatrical royal family, Judi Dench would undoubtedly be the Queen of the stage and the Noël Coward theatre would make a fitting palace… which are just two of the many reasons why we’re excited to see John Logan’s forthcoming new play Peter And Alice with the first lady of theatre in the leading role.

Dench will be joined by the critically acclaimed Ben Whishaw following their screen appearance together as M and Q in Skyfall, but this time there will be no gadgets and guns – we presume anyway – as they take on the roles of Alice Liddell Hargreaves and Peter Llewelyn Davies, the real-life inspirations behind the more well-known Alice In Wonderland and Peter Pan.

The show starts previews on 9 March before facing the press on 25 March. Photographer Marc Brenner took a peek into rehearsals to see how things are shaping up.
