In rehearsal: Disney’s Aladdin

First Published 18 May 2016, Last Updated 18 May 2016

We might not be able to show you A Whole New World, but we can offer you a glimpse into the rehearsal room of hotly anticipated new musical Disney’s Aladdin, which is close.

Okay, so the shiny wooden floor of the Jerwood Space rehearsal room does not give us much of an insight into how the show will look on stage, but within these pictures by Johan Persson is the first sighting of Aladdin’s new pals, Kassim, Babkak and Omar. They’re the ones wielding swords majestically in one picture and lurking blurrily behind Trevor Dion Nicholas’ Genie and Dean-John Wilson’s Aladdin in another.

What else? Well Nicholas has his jazz hands well and truly ready, and possesses shorts guaranteed to light up any rehearsal room, and the cast look extremely energetic.

It’s all just tempting enough to have us wishing the first performance of the Disney musical about a street urchin, an unsavoury sorcerer, a magic lamp and a beautiful princess was less than nine days away.

If you, like us, don’t have a genie to transport you to the Prince Edward Theatre to see Disney’s Aladdin, which begins previews on 25 May, you can book tickets through us here.
