Guys And Dolls transfers to Phoenix

Published 22 January 2016

Following its triumphant five star run at the Savoy Theatre, Guys And Dolls has extended its West End life announcing it will transfer to the Phoenix Theatre.

The show had been due to depart London following its Savoy end on 12 March but will now play at the current home of Bend It Like Beckham The Musical from 19 March. As previously announced, the production will also head off on a UK tour from 16 March with details of both casts still to be announced.

Guys And Dolls, which currently stars upcoming Harry Potter And The Cursed Child star Jamie Parker, Sophie Thompson, David Haig and Siubhan Harrison, first wowed audiences and critics alike at the Chichester Festival Theatre.

Following a West End transfer, the company has been bringing Frank Loesser’s iconic Broadway hit about gambling and love to life in London since December when Official London Theatre’s Kate Stanbury described it as “something close to pure musical perfection”, declaring it “a joyous and vibrant production that is everything you could ever hope for from a classic musical revival”.

Featuring classic songs including Sit Down You’re Rocking The Boat, My Time Of Day and Luck Be A Lady, as well as a star cast, Gordon Greenberg’s revival also boasts choreography by Chichester Festival Theatre regular Andrew Wright and one of ballet’s greatest modern dancers, Carlos Acosta.

Guys And Dolls will move into the Phoenix Theatre following the closure of another critically acclaimed musical hit, Bend It Like Beckham The Musical, which comes to the end of its run to head off on a worldwide tour on 5 March.
