Goodman-Hill and Calf join Newton’s Maiden

First Published 19 August 2011, Last Updated 19 August 2011

Actors Tom Goodman-Hill and Anthony Calf are to join the previously announced Thandie Newton in the forthcoming West End revival of Death And The Maiden.

The tale of a former political prisoner Paulina (Newton), who never saw the face of her tormentor but recognises his mannerisms and voice in a stranger who arrives at her beach house years later, will feature Goodman-Hill as Paulina’s husband and Calf as Doctor Roberto Miranda.

Goodman-Hill has become a West End regular in recent years, starring in productions including Enron, Earthquakes In London and Monty Python’s Spamalot. Calf, too, has a wealth of experience on the capital’s stages, being a regular performer at the Donmar Warehouse, Royal Court and National Theatre, where his recent credits include The Power Of Yes and The White Guard.

The Jeremy Herrin-directed production of Death And The Maiden, which opens at London’s Comedy theatre in October, will be the first West End revival of Ariel Dorfman’s play since it premiered at the Royal Court in 1991 and transferred to the Duke of York’s theatre the following year.
