Couldn’t get a ticket for Trevor Nunn’s sold-out, critically acclaimed production of Fiddler On The Roof at the Menier? Then you’re going to be very excited to hear that the show is heading into the West End.

Transferring to the Playhouse Theatre from 27 March for a limited run, Andy Nyman and Judy Kuhn aren’t going anywhere either, as they will be reprising their current roles in the show.

Andy (Tevye) is an award-winning actor, director and writer. He’s previously been in other Menier productions including Assassins and Abigail’s Party. He was also heavily involved in the original production of Ghost Stories, starring, co-writing and co-directing it. He’s worked with Derren Brown for almost 20 years, co-writing and directing six of his stage shows, and previously winning a ‘Best Entertainment’ Olivier Award for his work.

Judy (Golde) is a four-time Tony Award nominee, has released four studio albums, and sang the title role in the 1995 film Pocahontas. Her rendition of “Colors of the Wind”, won its composers the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Her theatre credits include Fun Home, She Loves Me, Chess and Les Miserables.

Fiddler On The Roof is the story of Tevye and his five daughters. Tevye has strong Jewish beliefs and traditions that he’s trying to maintain in difficult circumstances. Three of his daughters are falling in love with husbands who aren’t as traditional as him, and the Tsar is starting to evict Jewish people from their village. But Tevye’s daughters’ unexpected choice of husbands opens his heart to new possibilities, as his close-knit community also feel the winds of change blowing through their tiny village.

With iconic songs that you probably don’t even realise you already know, including, Tradition, Matchmaker, Matchmaker, Sunrise, Sunset and If I Were a Rich Man, you’re going to love this show. Not least because The Playhouse Theatre is going to be specially transformed into an immersive space for the production.

And there’s still more news to come, with the full transfer cast soon to be announced.
