Let It Be

Beatles musical performs park Prom

Forthcoming West End musical spectacular Let It Be will help prepare revellers for the Last Night Of The Proms in Hyde Park, playing 30 minutes of Beatles hits prior to a live relay of the famous musical spectacular.

Performers from the production that will begin its run at the Prince Of Wales theatre in late September will join a London line-up that also includes former Les Misérables star Alfie Boe, pop star Kylie Minogue and classical boy band Il Divo.

The Hyde Park concert, which takes place on 8 September, is one of a number of Proms In The Park which celebrate the culmination of the BBC’s annual concert season with simultaneous events across the UK, each culminating in a link up to the Royal Albert Hall for the traditional ending.

Let It Be is a “media rich theatrical concert” celebrating the work of the world’s greatest pop band, The Beatles. Using video footage alongside live performances it tells the story of the band’s rise from their humble beginnings at Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club to the all-conquering, music industry-redefining pinnacle of their career, and features a host of hits including I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Hard Day’s Night, Let It Be, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Hello Goodbye.

The tuneful spectacular’s run at the Prince Of Wales theatre follows the transfer of Mamma Mia!, which leaves the venue on 1 September and transfers to the Novello theatre. Let It Be will run through autumn and into spring, when it will be replaced at the venue by the much heralded, though controversial, multi-award-winning Broadway musical The Book Of Mormon.
