A Chorus Line to close

First Published 24 June 2013, Last Updated 25 June 2013

Hit musical A Chorus Line will play for One last time on 31 August, when it is set to end its run at the London Palladium.

The acclaimed production, which opened in February, was nominated for Best Musical Revival at this year’s Olivier Awards with MasterCard, with actress Leigh Zimmerman taking home the prize for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical for her portrayal of Sheila.

Starring John Partridge and Scarlett Strallen, the nine-time Tony Award-winning musical features the iconic songs One (Singular Sensation), What I Did For Love, Hello Twelve, Hello Thirteen, Hello Love, I Can Do That, Hope I Get It and Nothing, and tells the tale of a group of hopefuls auditioning for a place in a chorus line.

Talking about the production’s West End departure, producer Mark Goucher said: “We are extremely proud of this production of A Chorus Line and would like to thank the cast and creative team for their exceptional work. It has been a huge privilege bringing this extraordinary show back to life on the London stage. We will be very sad to see it close.”

Featuring a score by Marvin Hamlish and directed by the show’s original co-choreographer Bob Avian, the production is now expected to tour around Europe before returning to the UK for a national tour in autumn 2013.

It has not yet been announced what will fill the London Palladium before new comedy musical I Can’t Sing – The X Factor Musical brings its tale of the world’s most talked about TV talent show to the venue next year.
