When theatres closed back in March, industry members were looking for different ways to connect with their audiences, after all that’s the most magical thing about theatre – it brings us all together.

From live-streamed performances and podcasts to innovative virtual theatre fixes, there has been an abundance of incredible work shared to keep theatre fans singing, dancing and feeling that magic that we love so dearly.

To remind us of all the wonderful work that has been created over the past few months, we’ve searched through our archives to find some of the best feel-good musical anthems that were sung during the lockdown because…who doesn’t love a good sing-a-long?

The Prince Of Egypt – When You Believe

The Prince Of Egypt called out far and wide for fans to join in with a performance of When You Believe and as expected, it’s a belter! Get those tissues at the ready… because you better believe there’ll be some tears!

Kinky Boots – Raise You Up

To celebrate New York City pride, and to close-out pride month, Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig released an epic, multi-national, all-new music video of the stirring finale anthem, Raise You Up from the smash-hit, six-time Tony Award-winning and three-time Olivier Award-winning, global musical sensation Kinky Boots.

It was produced as a fundraiser for True Colors United and features cast members from seven nations across four continents, and reunites original Broadway stars Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award winner Billy Porter, Grammy Award winner Stark Sands, and Tony Award winner Annaleigh Ashford.

Put your boots on and celebrate you, to elevate you!

Annie – Tomorrow!

West End and Broadway star and recording artist, Marisha Wallace (Waitress, Dreamgirls, Aladdin) performed a rising and soulful cover of the timeless Tomorrow from the musical Annie to raise funds for The MAD Trust (UK) and Broadway Cares (USA).

The video features many stars of the stage and screen including Katharine McPhee, Lea Salonga, Leslie Odom Jr,  Ledisi, Beverly Knight,  Nina West and Kerry Ellis and more joining in virtually from their homes.

If you need a little pick-me-up today, take this as your cue…Hit play because this iconic track is guaranteed to have you smiling and singing along!

Mamma Mia! – Mamma Mia

Whether you’ve seen the movie and loved it, or are huge fan of the musical, this one’s guaranteed to get your on your feet (and with a hairbrush in hand!)

It’s funny, it’s creative and best of all it’s got bucket loads of energy! Don’t miss this brilliant video of the cast of Mamma Mia! performing in lockdown.

Les Misérables – Do You Hear The People Sing

We couldn’t find a better pick to end with. Sung as a tribute to NHS staff, this video is packed with emotion and soul and is brimming with love and light – all the components of a feel-good anthem!
